Stage 3Activity 2 (of 5)
Step 1
There are a host of useful resources to help you develop a data collection tool.
- For example, view pages 39-40 of the Measurement for Improvement Guidance for tips on questionnaire and data collection form design.
- Also see the Example pre- and post-training participant survey and the Example post-training manager survey for sample surveys that were developed to test participants before and after a training session.
Step 2
Test your tool with the individuals applying it in practice and on end users answering your questions. Check with colleagues if the language is easy to understand or set up a small test group of users for more specific feedback.
Step 3
Use the feedback from your test group to refine your data collection tool and ensure it is user-friendly and effective.
Step 4
Always follow best practice when conducting your surveys or interviews.
- This framework analysis methodology (interviews) resource provides tips on how to conduct interviews.
